We are learning about our upcoming field trips. This Friday we will go to the Refuge, where we get to go fishing! We need to bring a sack lunch this Friday and wear old clothes that can get dirty. We also started learning about out BizTown field trip that is coming up on October 18th. The whole 6th grade will be going to Davenport and we are very excited about it! We need 14 adult volunteers, so please let Mrs. Feldman know if you can volunteer!
In the past couple of weeks we have been learning a lot at school! In math we have been learning about decimals and how to add, subtract, multiply, and divide them. We would love to know how you use this math in your daily life. During our reading time we are learning how to Read to Someone the Daily 5 way and how important it is to Check for Understanding along the way. Our goal is to turn in our reading journals on time, so that we can earn a class prize! Recently, we went to Mrs. Wolford's class and learned about Astronomy. This was fun! Every Thursday Mr. Gooding comes to our class to talk to us about Drug and Alcohol Prevention. This is interesting and we are able to ask questions. Thanks for reading!

First Two Weeks!
By: Rachel, Kaleb, Hailey, and Brock
The past two weeks have been busy learning new things! We learned new vocabulary about survival and we practiced increasing our stamina by reading to ourself. Right now we have made it to 11 minutes! We also started Spelling City online. We use this to practice our spelling games and take our practice tests. We play Sparkle, which is a review game before we take our test each Friday. In math we worked on long division and place value. We found that there are two ways to check our division: estimation and multiplication. Social Studies also started this week with learning about latitude and longitude. We completed a note sheet over material in the text book and then played a scavenger hunt game. Lastly, we have spent the last two weeks getting used to active sitting. We use stability balls or exercise balls in our classroom instead of chairs. We like these a lot, because they keep you active and strengthen your abs. They have become standard for us and we really like them! Please look for more classroom happenings in the next week!
